Local Area
• Billy the Fish - Billy is a local fishmonger (and ʻcharacter) and also has a fishing
themed restaurant (nets from the ceiling and driftwood tables) and an open kitchen,
where you can watch Billy himself cooking.
• The Sun Inn - technically this is in the next village on from Dorchester, but it is only
15mins pleasant stroll along the river. On a sunny day you can sit outside with a local
brew and fresh cooked fish and chips, or on a cold winter night snuggle by the real fire
and tuck into their hearty carvery.
• The Blue Raddle - If you are here on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday you can enjoy
some great home cooked food at The Blue Raddle- this pub is for over 14s only Im
afraid but it is Camra awarded for its local beers. Expect to be greeted by Bud and
Bones, who much to there owners dismay think they are the landlords.
• Prezzos - For a chain of restaurants I think this Prezzos is really quite good, the
location, set inside the building Judge Jeffery lodged in in 1685, has much history about
it . The restaurant is Italian and serves pizza, pasta and risotto
• La Gondolier - very child friendly ,will even do a ½ portion of grown up food.
• la Caverna- is more of an intimate space a little further down the road.
plus many others...

Shopping
Dorchester is justifiably proud of its many independent shops that trade side by side with
more well known high street brands.
There are also a great variety of cafes and coffee shops to help sustain your shopping
spree.
Eating Out
Dorchester offers a great variety of restaurants and pubs, with prices to suit all budgets.
We enjoy eating out as often as possible (its our hobby) and have tasted most of what
Dorchester has to offer, here is a quick run down of the best:
• Sienna Restaurant - A fantastic treat (if you can get a table). Chef Russell Brown has
many awards including Dorsets only Michelin star. If you are stuck on what to choose,
go for the tasting menu and let Russell and Elena show you why they are the best
restaurant in Dorset.
• Raj Poot - the chaps at Raj Poot had a major make over in 2010, introducing an Indian/
European fusion menu. Its bright and fun, great if you want to try curry with a twist.
Spice Centre - is a large and airy traditional curry house, with excellent food and service
• Thai Nakorn - Kitima will be only to pleased to help you with any hard decisions you
may have pairing down this great Thai menu (we highly recommend the aubergines, they
are addictive). One of the best Thai meals weve ever had.
• No 6 - This is a classic bistro. The restaurant has a lovely feel to it, very nicely
decorated. The chef Christian Lohez is typically French with his food and uses the best
of Dorsets local produce, he believes his fish to be so fresh he doesnt like to mess with
it, so you get all the true flavours of the fish.
